Asbestos Testing & Consultation Brisbane

Asbestos cannot be identified by eye — the fibres are microscopic, and materials that look identical can differ entirely. Testing takes a controlled sample for laboratory analysis, and consultation covers what the result means for the work you're planning.

What's included Two services on one page: sampling, and the advice that follows it.
1 Sampling A small sample is taken under controlled conditions so the act of sampling doesn't itself release fibres.
2 Laboratory analysis The sample is analysed and identified, including the asbestos type where present.
3 Written result A result you can act on, and keep on file for a renovation, a sale or a building register.
4 Consultation What the result means for your project — whether removal is needed, what class of licence applies, and how the work would be scoped.
5 Register advice For commercial buildings, what needs recording and reviewing under the register obligation.

Before you cut, buy, renovate or demolish

Testing is cheapest before work starts and most expensive after material has been disturbed. Either funnel page can take it from here depending on whether the property is a home or a commercial site.

How long does a test take to come back?

Laboratory turnaround is typically a couple of business days from sampling. Where a renovation is on hold, tell us at the time of sampling and we'll flag it as a priority with the lab.

Can I take my own sample and send it in?

It isn't advisable. Breaking a piece off is exactly the action that releases fibres, and an unrepresentative sample can return a false negative. Controlled sampling costs little and avoids both problems.

Does a negative result cover the whole house?

No. A result applies to the material sampled. A house can contain several different products from different eras — a negative on the eaves says nothing about the vinyl backing or the fence.
